Description

Interleukin-12B (IL-12B), or IL-12p40, is a crucial cytokine subunit involved in immune regulation. It combines with IL-12A (IL-12p35) to form IL-12, a key driver of Th1 responses, and with IL-23A (IL-23p19) to form IL-23, which influences inflammation and autoimmunity. Produced by dendritic cells, macrophages, and monocytes in response to infections, IL-12B activates the JAK/STAT pathway, promoting IFN-γ production, Th1 differentiation, and NK cell activity, while its role in IL-23 supports Th17 expansion and chronic inflammation.

Recombinant human IL-12B is frequently utilized in vitro to study immune signaling, Th1 polarization, and cytokine interactions. It is a valuable tool in cancer and autoimmune research, aiding in the development of targeted immunotherapies.
